Crew Leader
Under the direction of the Farm Manager, the Crew Leader is primarily responsible for supervising and working along side participants in SIO's Farmer in Training (FIT) Program.
Responsibilities include:
- work along side FIT participants (the crew) to complete field work
- communicating standards and methods for field work set by the Farm Manager to the crew
- keeping the crew motivated
- keeping the crew working efficiently
- checking the quality of crew work
- communicating fieldwork updates to the Farm Manager
- recording crew time spent on various fieldwork projects
- organizing hiring for the FIT Program
- assisting with "on the job training" for the FIT Program
- organizing educational opportunities for the FIT Program
- point person for FIT Program participants' housings
- coordinating on-farm volunteers when appropriate
- general farm field work in months that FIT Program is not active
Ideal candidates:
- minimum of one season of agricultural experience
- strong communication skills
- strong leadership skills
- valid driver's license and clean driving record
- can perform light to heavy lifting (up to 60lbs), repetitive grasping and standing, bending, kneeling and walking. Severe hay fever or other allergies should also be considered. Compensation
- $10 an hour starting January 1, 2009
- Housing Negotiable
